Granola has released Crunched, a new feature that analyzes users' meeting notes from the past year and surfaces patterns, key moments, and conversation trends in a single interface.
The feature, announced in early December, builds on the company's core AI notepad product to help users reflect on their meeting activity without manually reviewing individual notes. Crunched generates an at-a-glance summary of what was discussed, with whom, and when throughout the year.
How It Works
Crunched processes meeting notes captured by Granola throughout 2025 and uses AI to identify recurring themes, notable discussions, and key participants. The feature is available now within the Granola app and automatically generates a year-in-review experience for users who have recorded meetings.
The company published a detailed post on prompt engineering behind Crunched, revealing how the team structured the AI to analyze meeting data while maintaining context accuracy. The prompts were designed to surface meaningful insights rather than just aggregate raw statistics.
Users see their Crunched summary directly in the app, with no additional setup required beyond having used Granola to capture meeting notes during the year.
Building on Recent Momentum
The Crunched release follows a period of rapid expansion for Granola. The company raised $125M in Series C funding in March 2026 and recently launched Team Spaces for shared meeting context. It has also shipped integrations with developer tools like Warp and Factory, plus an API to connect meeting notes with external AI agents.
Granola also introduced Model Context Protocol (MCP) support in February, allowing meeting notes to flow into tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. The company is positioning meeting notes as a persistent layer of context that can inform work across multiple platforms.
Broader Implications for Meeting Data
Crunched represents a shift from meeting notes as transactional records to meeting notes as analyzable data. By surfacing long-term patterns, Granola is testing whether users find value in retrospective analysis of their conversation history.
The feature arrives as companies are exploring how to extract more value from recorded meetings. While tools like Descript focus on editing and transcription, and platforms like Intercom and Crisp handle customer conversations, Granola is carving out a position as the system of record for internal meeting context.
Crunched is live now for all Granola users. The company has not disclosed whether the feature will remain free or become part of a premium tier.
