Granola Brings AI Meeting Notes to iPhone Phone Calls

Granola has extended its AI note-taking platform to iPhone phone calls, allowing users to capture notes during voice conversations outside of scheduled meetings.

The update lets users take AI-generated notes on client check-ins, colleague catch-ups, and other phone calls directly from the Granola iPhone app. The feature is available now in the latest version of the mobile application.

Expanding Beyond Scheduled Meetings

Granola built its reputation on helping users document back-to-back calendar meetings. The platform combines user-typed notes with AI-generated summaries based on meeting transcripts, creating what the company calls a hybrid approach to meeting documentation.

The phone call feature represents a significant shift in scope. Rather than focusing solely on scheduled video conferences and in-person meetings, Granola now captures unscheduled phone conversations that happen between formal meetings. For users who field frequent client calls or conduct business over the phone while traveling, the addition fills a practical gap.

The feature works similarly to Granola's existing meeting notes functionality. Users can jot down quick notes during the call, and the AI layer processes the conversation to generate structured summaries. This maintains the tool's core workflow while adapting it to a different communication medium.

Mobile-First Note Capture

The iPhone implementation suggests Granola is prioritizing mobile use cases alongside its desktop experience. Phone calls are inherently mobile, and users conducting business on the go need tools that work in that context.

The update follows a series of feature launches from Granola in recent months, including @ mentions for meeting notes and Recipes for reusable AI workflows. Each addition has expanded the platform's utility beyond simple transcription.

The company recently raised a $125 million Series C round, according to its blog, positioning it to continue building features that bridge different communication contexts. Phone calls represent one of the most common but least documented forms of business communication, making them a logical target for AI note-taking tools.

Users can download the update through the App Store. The feature is included in existing Granola plans without additional cost.
