Granola has launched @ mentions for meeting notes, now live in its Chat interface. The update allows users to tag and reference specific meeting notes within conversations, streamlining how teams access discussion context without leaving the chat environment.
The feature addresses a common workflow friction: switching between meeting notes and chat tools to pull relevant information. With @ mentions, users can now surface meeting content directly in Granola Chat, where the company has been building out its AI-powered conversation features following recent additions like chat history preservation and meeting note templates.
How Meeting Note Mentions Work
The implementation ties into Granola's existing note-taking infrastructure. When users type @ in chat, they can search and select from their meeting notes library. The mention creates a direct reference, letting collaborators jump to the full context of a past discussion without manually searching through their notes archive.
This builds on Granola's positioning as an AI notepad for back-to-back meetings. The tool already handles transcription, note generation, and structured outputs. Adding mentions extends that utility into post-meeting workflows, particularly for teams that use chat to coordinate follow-ups, assign action items, or revisit decisions.
Granola Chat has become a central hub in the product since its launch with Recipes last September. Recipes let users create reusable prompts for common tasks like extracting action items or formatting notes for CRM systems. The mention feature layers onto that foundation, making it easier to feed specific meeting data into those workflows.
Context for Distributed Teams
The update arrives as Granola continues expanding its collaboration features. The company recently added support for Gemini models in Chat and Recipes, and shipped Focus Mode to reduce distractions during live meetings. Earlier this year, it introduced Granola MCP, connecting meeting notes to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other tools via Model Context Protocol.
For users juggling multiple projects or client accounts, @ mentions offer a faster way to pull meeting context into ongoing discussions. Instead of copying and pasting excerpts or sending links to full notes, team members can drop a mention that preserves both the reference and the searchability.
The feature is available now to all Granola users inside Chat. The company has not announced additional pricing or access restrictions for the mention functionality.
