Granola has introduced a new follow-up meeting workflow that automates scheduling the next call based on decisions made in the previous one. The feature, called Schedule Follow Up Meeting, drafts a follow-up email that opens directly into Gmail for quick edits and can pre-populate Google Calendar information with a single click.
The company announced the feature on LinkedIn this week as part of a series showcasing new Recipes, the AI-powered workflows Granola introduced last September to help users act on meeting insights without switching between tools.
How the Scheduling Flow Works
The new Recipe analyzes meeting notes to identify action items or commitments that require follow-up meetings. Users can generate a draft email summarizing the meeting's key points and suggesting next steps, which Granola opens directly in Gmail. From there, users can tweak the message before sending.
Alternatively, the workflow can skip the email step entirely and push meeting details straight into Google Calendar. This includes pre-populated fields like meeting title, suggested attendees based on who was in the original call, and a description drawing from the notes.
The feature is designed for people in back-to-back meetings who need to schedule follow-ups quickly without manually copying context from one tool to another. Granola already captures meeting notes and transcripts, so the Schedule Follow Up Meeting Recipe uses that context to reduce the administrative overhead of coordinating the next conversation.
Building on Recipes and Chat
Granola launched Recipes in September 2025 as part of an overhaul to its Chat interface. Recipes are pre-built workflows that let users perform common tasks like summarizing action items, drafting emails, or extracting key decisions from meeting notes. The Schedule Follow Up Meeting Recipe is the latest addition to this library.
The company has been steadily expanding ways users can act on meeting notes. Recent updates include adding @ mentions to Chat for referencing specific people or notes, introducing meeting note templates for recurring meetings and CRM exports, and connecting meeting notes to Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor via Model Context Protocol earlier this year.
The new scheduling feature fits into Granola's broader push to keep meeting context accessible and actionable. By integrating directly with Gmail and Google Calendar, the tool eliminates the need to switch between apps or manually reconstruct what was discussed.
Competing in a Crowded Space
Granola competes with other AI meeting assistants like Otter.ai, Fireflies.ai, and Fathom, all of which offer transcription, note-taking, and some level of post-meeting automation. The Schedule Follow Up Meeting Recipe differentiates Granola by emphasizing tight integration with existing workflows rather than forcing users into a separate platform.
The feature is available now to Granola users. More details about Recipes and the full list of available workflows can be found on the Granola website.
