Descript Ships Seedance 2.0 with Enhanced AI Motion Graphics

Descript has released Seedance 2.0, the latest version of its AI-powered motion graphics tool now available inside the video editing platform. The update arrives as Descript continues expanding its suite of AI features for video creators and podcasters.

Seedance allows users to generate animated graphics and visual effects using text prompts, eliminating the need for traditional motion graphics software. The tool transforms static images or text into dynamic animations that can be dropped directly into video timelines.

What's New in Version 2.0

While Descript's announcement provided limited technical details, the 2.0 designation signals meaningful improvements over the initial release. The company has been systematically upgrading its AI capabilities across the platform, recently adding Claude Opus 4.7 to Underlord for faster editing workflows.

Seedance fits into Descript's broader strategy of text-based video editing. Users can edit video by editing transcripts, generate animations from descriptions, and apply AI effects without leaving the main interface. The tool competes with traditional motion graphics workflows in Adobe After Effects and newer AI tools like Midjourney for static image generation.

The update lands alongside other recent platform improvements, including a centralized media library and color adjustment presets. These features address workflow bottlenecks that slow down video production, particularly for solo creators and small teams managing multiple projects.

AI Motion Graphics for Non-Designers

Seedance lowers the barrier for creators who need motion graphics but lack design expertise. Instead of hiring specialists or learning complex software, users describe what they want in plain language. The AI generates options that can be refined and integrated into projects.

This approach mirrors Descript's core editing philosophy: make professional tools accessible through natural language interfaces. The same principle powers features like text-based video editing, where users fix on-camera mistakes by typing over spoken words.

For creators producing regular content like YouTube videos, podcasts with video components, or social media clips, Seedance 2.0 offers a faster path to polished visuals. The tool handles common needs like lower thirds, title cards, and animated transitions without requiring separate software.

Descript has not disclosed pricing changes or availability tiers for Seedance 2.0. The feature is available now to existing users through the standard Descript interface. Users can access it alongside the platform's transcription, editing, and AI voice tools within their current subscription plans.
