Descript has integrated Seedance 2.0 directly into its editing platform, allowing users to generate AI-powered videos without leaving their workspace. The update eliminates the need to export clips to separate tools, streamlining the workflow for creators who want to generate motion graphics and video effects alongside their editing work.
Seedance 2.0 brings state-of-the-art video generation capabilities into the same interface where users already transcribe, edit, and polish their content. The integration marks a shift from Descript's typical text-first editing approach to include more visual AI tools within the core product.
Controllable Output and Resolution Options
The new model supports six different aspect ratios, giving creators flexibility for various platforms and formats. Users can output videos at either 480p or 720p resolution, with clip lengths ranging from 4 to 12 seconds.
A standout feature is the ability to use reference images for the first and last frames of generated clips. This control lets users ensure generated content matches specific visual styles or transitions smoothly between existing footage, rather than starting from a generic AI interpretation.
Descript shared the update on LinkedIn, emphasizing that users can now "generate your videos in the same place you edit them." The company has been steadily adding AI capabilities to its platform, as we previously covered when they first shipped Seedance 2.0 with enhanced motion graphics.
Unified Video Workflow
The integration addresses a common pain point for video creators who previously needed to bounce between multiple tools. Generate a clip in one app, edit audio in another, add captions in a third. Descript's approach consolidates these steps into a single environment where transcription, editing, effects, and now AI video generation all live together.
This follows Descript's pattern of building AI tools that complement rather than replace manual editing. Their Underlord assistant and text-based editing already let creators work faster without fully automating creative decisions. Seedance 2.0 extends that philosophy to video generation, giving users precise control over timing, resolution, and visual references.
For creators working on tight deadlines or experimenting with motion graphics, having generation and editing tools in the same workspace removes friction. The question will be whether the quality and flexibility of Seedance 2.0 match what creators can achieve with dedicated video generation platforms, or if the convenience of integration outweighs any feature gaps.
Seedance 2.0 is now available within Descript for all users. The company has not disclosed pricing changes or usage limits for the new feature.
