Zapier has opened public beta access to its SDK, allowing developers to embed automation capabilities across 9,000 apps directly into AI coding assistants like Cursor and Claude Code.
The SDK, announced on LinkedIn by Zapier CEO Wade Foster, enables AI agents to analyze work patterns across connected apps and propose context-aware automations. Foster described using the SDK with Cursor to review his activity in Gmail, Granola, Slack, and Coda, generating suggestions like routing follow-up commitments to a task queue or drafting CRM notes after external meetings.
How It Works
Developers install the SDK into their existing AI coding environment. The agent can then suggest and execute actions across Zapier's app ecosystem without requiring developers to build individual API integrations.
Foster's use case illustrates the practical application: after logging 57 hours in meetings over one week, he prompted his AI to identify efficiency opportunities. The SDK flagged three patterns, including repeated explanations of the same strategy across meetings (which the AI suggested addressing with a standardized one-pager) and follow-ups lacking clear ownership or deadlines.
The SDK builds on Zapier's recent push into AI tooling. The company previously covered its one-click integration for AI tools and shared how its customer advocacy team built an AI-native workflow system using MCP and SDK.
Developer Access and Pricing
The open beta is free to use. Developers can integrate the SDK into coding tools including Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. The SDK does not replace Zapier's existing workflow builder; instead, it lets developers and AI agents programmatically access Zapier's app catalog.
Zapier's 9,000-app library includes productivity tools, CRMs, email platforms, and project management software. The SDK approach means developers avoid building and maintaining dozens of individual API connections when creating agentic workflows.
The move follows Zapier's broader strategy to position itself as infrastructure for AI agents, as evidenced by its homepage redesign targeting AI coding tools and agents, and its work with Gemini 3.5 Flash for complex automation rules.
Developers interested in the SDK can access the beta through Zapier's MCP guide on the Zapier blog.
