Zapier has integrated its platform with Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing Claude to execute tasks directly across thousands of connected applications without leaving the chat interface.
The integration means users can instruct Claude to perform administrative tasks like replying to emails, scheduling calendar events, or updating spreadsheets through natural language commands. Zapier acts as the bridge, connecting Claude to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, and roughly 9,000 other applications in its ecosystem.
Setup Process Takes Under 10 Minutes
According to guidance shared on LinkedIn, the setup requires opening Zapier MCP, creating a connection, selecting which applications Claude can access, and copying the MCP link. Users then paste this link into Claude's settings under Connectors or Integrations and authorize their account.
Once configured, users can issue commands like "Reply that I'm in," "Book us a meeting tomorrow at 2 pm," or "Add the deal to my brand deals sheet." Claude interprets the request, and Zapier executes the action through the connected applications. The system eliminates the need to switch between multiple apps for routine administrative work.

The approach builds on Zapier's recent expansion of MCP support. As previously reported, the company rolled out MCP access to its full catalog of integrations earlier this year, making it one of the most comprehensive AI agent connection layers available.
MCP Gives Claude Direct API Access
Model Context Protocol, developed by Anthropic, allows AI models to interact with external tools and data sources through a standardized interface. Rather than relying on pre-built automations or Zaps, MCP enables Claude to call application APIs on the fly based on user instructions.
This differs from traditional automation workflows, which require users to define triggers and actions in advance. With MCP, the AI determines which steps to take based on the prompt. If a user says "Email the team about tomorrow's meeting," Claude identifies the recipients, drafts the message, and sends it through the connected email client without requiring a pre-configured workflow.
The architecture also means users control which applications Claude can access. During setup, they explicitly choose which integrations to enable, limiting potential actions to only those services they've authorized. This provides a layer of security while still allowing broad functionality across personal and business tools.
Zapier Positions MCP as PA Alternative
Zapier is framing the integration as a way to replace or augment personal assistants for administrative tasks. The pitch centers on speed and consolidation: instead of delegating tasks to another person or manually opening multiple applications, users type a single instruction in Claude.
The company has also released templates for common workflows, available through a shared link in the original announcement. These templates provide pre-configured MCP setups for tasks like managing email responses, updating CRM records, or syncing files across cloud storage services.
For small business owners and solopreneurs, the integration could reduce administrative overhead. Rather than context-switching between Gmail, Slack, and project management tools, users can route requests through Claude and let Zapier handle the execution. The system doesn't replace complex workflows but targets repetitive, low-stakes tasks that consume time without requiring deep decision-making.
Zapier's MCP integration is available now. Users need a Zapier account and access to Claude to begin connecting applications.
