Zapier is hosting a workshop on March 26th focused on teaching users how to integrate AI into automated workflows without sacrificing predictability. The session, titled "AI Without Losing Predictability," will demonstrate how to use AI selectively within Zapier's automation platform.
The workshop addresses a growing tension in automation: while AI capabilities have expanded rapidly, many businesses need reliable, consistent outputs rather than generative unpredictability. Emily Mabie, who leads the session, emphasized the approach as "less 'AI everywhere', more control you can ship confidently."
Selective AI in Workflows
Participants will learn to build an automated workflow where AI only processes specific steps, using Zapier's AI by Zapier feature within a Zap. This approach differs from Zapier's previous agent-building workshops and Model Context Protocol (MCP) sessions, as the company has been expanding its AI integration options.
The one-hour build-along workshop promises a functional AI automation that attendees can implement immediately. Rather than applying AI broadly across entire workflows, the technique allows users to designate which specific tasks benefit from AI processing while keeping other steps deterministic.
This strategy becomes particularly relevant as Zapier connects over 7,000 apps. Users building workflows for critical business processes often need to balance AI's capabilities with the need for repeatable, auditable results. A customer support workflow might use AI to categorize incoming requests but rely on fixed routing rules to assign them to specific teams.
The workshop format includes live building, allowing participants to follow along and construct their own workflows during the session. Mabie noted that attendees will also "get to see me wave my hands around and wiggle my eyebrows and probably talk about food," suggesting an informal, accessible teaching style.
Zapier has been actively developing its AI automation capabilities, recently opening partner webinars to demonstrate how its app ecosystem can power AI assistants. The company has also showcased practical applications, including using AI agents to flag missing salary ranges in job postings.
The workshop targets users who want to adopt AI capabilities without compromising on the reliability that makes automation valuable for business-critical processes. By teaching controlled integration rather than wholesale AI adoption, Zapier is positioning its platform for users who need both innovation and predictability in their workflows.
The session takes place March 26th. Registration details were not included in the announcement.
