n8n has closed a strategic investment from SAP at a $5.2 billion valuation, CEO Jan Oberhauser confirmed in a LinkedIn post this week. The deal, which also includes a product partnership, will make n8n available to all SAP customers through Joule Studio with no installation or additional contracts required.
Oberhauser announced the milestone after appearing at SAP events in Madrid, Orlando, and elsewhere to discuss the partnership. General availability is expected in the next few months, he said, bringing n8n's workflow automation platform directly to SAP's enterprise customer base.
Zero-Friction Access for SAP Customers
The integration will embed n8n inside Joule Studio, SAP's AI-powered development environment. According to Oberhauser, customers will get out-of-the-box access with no setup or installation steps. The company is positioning this as a way to extend automation and AI orchestration capabilities to enterprise users who might not otherwise adopt a standalone tool.
SAP customers will be able to build workflows that connect SAP systems with third-party APIs, databases, and AI models using n8n's visual canvas. The platform supports both no-code and code-based workflows, a flexibility that has made it popular with technical teams at companies like Mercedes-Benz.
This follows n8n's initial partnership announcement with SAP earlier this year, which outlined the product integration but did not disclose financial terms.
Why SAP Is Betting on Workflow Automation
SAP's investment comes as enterprises look for ways to orchestrate AI agents and automate processes that span multiple systems. n8n competes with platforms like Zapier and Make, but its open-source roots and self-hosting option have made it a preferred choice for companies with strict data governance requirements.
The $5.2 billion valuation reflects both n8n's market position and the broader enterprise appetite for AI workflow tools. SAP has been pushing Joule as a central hub for AI-powered productivity, and adding a mature orchestration layer helps close the gap between generative AI prototypes and production workflows.
Oberhauser credited teams on both sides for executing the deal, naming n8n executives Hugues Vincent, Ben Kiziltug, Michael Kuntz, and Laure Carli, along with SAP leaders Sebastian Steinhaeuser and Dr. Philipp Herzig. He described the effort as a "huge lift" but emphasized the scale of the opportunity.
What Happens Next
n8n is now finalizing the product integration ahead of general availability. The company has not specified an exact release date but indicated it will be within the next few months. Once live, SAP customers will be able to access n8n directly from Joule Studio without needing to sign separate contracts or configure infrastructure.
For n8n, the SAP deal represents a significant distribution channel. SAP's customer base includes many of the world's largest enterprises, and embedding n8n in Joule Studio could accelerate adoption among organizations that have been slow to experiment with standalone automation platforms.
The partnership also positions n8n as a key enabler of SAP's broader AI strategy, which includes Joule copilots, agentic workflows, and cross-application integrations. As enterprises move beyond pilot projects and into production AI deployments, tools that can reliably orchestrate complex workflows across legacy and modern systems will become critical infrastructure.
