n8n Agents Can Now Appear as Full Team Members in Microsoft 365

n8n agents can now be added as team members across Microsoft 365, appearing alongside human colleagues in Microsoft Teams and other M365 applications with the ability to execute workflows, integrations, and MCP servers on demand.

The automation platform demonstrated the capability in a recent webinar, showing an agent invoked via @mention in Teams to summarize PagerDuty incidents, write them into an Excel spreadsheet, and share results back with the channel. The setup positions n8n agents as first-class participants in enterprise collaboration environments rather than background automation scripts.

Technical Integration with Microsoft 365

The integration works by registering n8n agents within Microsoft's identity and permissions framework. Once configured on the Microsoft side, agents gain access to call any workflow, integration node, or Model Context Protocol server configured in n8n as a tool. This follows n8n's recent launch of one-click MCP server connections for cloud users, which simplified connecting external context sources to agentic workflows.

The company published a full setup walkthrough covering Microsoft configuration steps and how to extend agent capabilities within n8n. The architecture allows agents to surface in any M365 application where team members typically collaborate, including Teams channels, SharePoint workspaces, and Outlook.

Developers can scope which workflows and tools each agent can access, applying the same permission model used for human team members. An agent might have read access to customer data in a CRM integration but restricted write permissions to financial systems, for example.

Enterprise Use Cases

The PagerDuty demo illustrates a common ITOps scenario where an on-call engineer needs incident context without switching applications. By @mentioning the agent in Teams, the engineer triggers a workflow that queries PagerDuty's API, formats results, writes to Excel for record-keeping, and returns a summary, all without leaving the conversation thread.

Other enterprise applications include:

  • Sales teams querying CRM data, updating deal stages, or pulling customer histories during client calls
  • Marketing operations requesting campaign performance reports, audience counts, or automated social media scheduling
  • Finance departments generating expense summaries, approving invoice workflows, or pulling budget data from ERP systems
  • Support teams escalating tickets, retrieving knowledge base articles, or creating customer follow-up tasks

The setup reduces context switching and surfaces automation capabilities where teams already work. Rather than navigating to separate dashboards or triggering workflows through web forms, users interact with agents through natural language in their daily collaboration tools.

Broader Agent Strategy

This release continues n8n's expansion into agentic workflows. The platform recently shipped MiniMax node support for multi-step tool chains and partnered with Lovable to let non-coders build production software through MCP integration. The company also announced a strategic partnership with SAP, embedding n8n workflows directly into Joule Studio 2.0.

The Microsoft 365 integration positions agents as colleagues rather than background processes. Teams can assign tasks to agents the same way they would delegate to human team members, creating a more intuitive interface for workflow automation in enterprise environments where Microsoft's collaboration suite remains the default standard.

Full setup documentation and the recorded webinar are available through n8n's official channels. The feature is available now for n8n Cloud and self-hosted deployments running the latest version.

The AI-Native Solopreneur: Build Without a Technical Co-Founder

Effie Bersoux presents a paradigm shift in entrepreneurship where AI enables solo founders to build, validate, and scale businesses without technical co-founders or significant capital. Drawing from Growth Girls' experience building 40+ companies in one year and going from a £4m exit (7 years) to a £40m acquisition target (1 year), she demonstrates how AI breaks the traditional capital-talent-traction loop that disadvantages undercapitalized founders. The talk provides concrete frameworks for AI-native operating models, automation decision-making, and rapid idea-to-market validation.
