MailerLite Adds Instant Testing Feature for Email Automation Sequences

MailerLite has introduced a testing feature in its automation builder that allows users to send complete automation sequences to their inbox in a single action, eliminating the need to manually trigger each step.

The Test button, announced on LinkedIn, enables marketers to preview an entire workflow at once rather than stepping through each email individually. This addresses a common pain point for teams building multi-step nurture campaigns, onboarding flows, or drip sequences, where verifying consistency across messages previously required activating the automation or manually triggering each step.

How It Works

Users building an automation can now click the Test button to deliver every email in the sequence to a designated inbox simultaneously. This allows them to review subject lines, preview text, branding elements, and messaging flow as subscribers would experience them, but condensed into minutes rather than days or weeks.

The feature is particularly useful for catching inconsistencies in tone, design, or CTAs across a series. For example, a five-email welcome sequence that spaces messages three days apart would normally take 12 days to test in real conditions. With the new testing function, marketers can review all five emails immediately.

This builds on MailerLite's recent automation improvements, including features announced earlier this year focused on workflow efficiency.

Why This Matters

Email automation has become table stakes for small businesses and creators, but ensuring quality across multi-touch campaigns remains time-consuming. According to MailerLite's own research on email performance metrics, consistency in branding and messaging correlates strongly with higher engagement rates.

The ability to audit an entire sequence before it goes live reduces the risk of errors reaching subscribers. A typo in email three of a seven-part series, or a broken link in the final message, can undermine weeks of careful planning. Catching these issues before activation is significantly easier when all messages are visible at once.

For teams using tools like Zapier or Make to trigger automations based on external events, this testing capability provides additional confidence that workflows will perform as intended when integrated with other systems.

Broader Context

MailerLite has been steadily expanding its automation capabilities to compete with platforms like ConvertKit and Mailchimp. The company recently launched AI-powered tools for campaign optimization, suggesting a focus on reducing friction in the email marketing workflow.

The testing feature is available now to all MailerLite users within the automation builder. The company has not indicated whether this functionality will extend to A/B testing or variant previews in future updates.
