Supabase connector on Perplexity Computer Brings Postgres Into Agent Workflows

Supabase has put its Postgres database and serverless functions inside an AI agent. The new Supabase connector on Perplexity Computer lets users query tables, inspect user records and invoke Edge Functions from a chat, reducing the need to jump between an assistant, the Supabase Dashboard and command-line tools.

The integration, announced by Supabase on August 7, makes a connected Supabase project a persistent data layer for Perplexity Computer. According to the company, Computer can read from and write back to Postgres tables, allowing an agent to retain state across separate runs without developers building custom glue code.

That combination could be useful for small teams already using Supabase as the backend for an application. Instead of manually exporting data or pasting query results into an AI assistant, a user can ask Computer a question about production data and have the agent run the relevant query. Supabase says an example prompt could identify which tables grew most during the week, with Computer querying the database and returning an answer in the conversation.

From Database Questions to Multi-App Tasks

Perplexity describes Computer as an agent for completing multi-step work across more than 400 applications. Its supported services include GitHub, Vercel, Datadog, Stripe and Slack. Adding Supabase means database operations can become one step in a broader workflow rather than an isolated task.

For customer support, for example, a team could start with a ticket, retrieve the corresponding user record, check the person’s last sign-in and review failed payments. Supabase also proposes combining Stripe cancellation events with behavioral data stored in Postgres, using the results to identify where customers drop out before creating a GitHub pull request for a potential fix.

The connector supports several practical operations:

  • Querying Postgres data, including questions about table growth or application activity.
  • Looking up users, such as checking account records and recent sign-ins while investigating support cases.
  • Invoking Edge Functions, including sending a test payload to a function without leaving the chat.
  • Scheduling recurring analysis, such as running a weekly growth query and posting the report to Slack every Monday.

The Edge Functions capability is particularly notable. It moves the integration beyond conversational analytics, giving Computer a way to trigger application logic hosted on Supabase. That could shorten testing and operational workflows, although builders should still consider the consequences of allowing an agent to perform writes or invoke functions connected to production systems.

What Builders Should Consider

The immediate appeal is speed. Founders, operators and developers can ask questions in natural language while the agent coordinates database and third-party application work behind the scenes. The persistent connection also means a workflow can use Supabase to store intermediate or final state across runs, rather than depending entirely on a chat session’s context.

This release continues Supabase’s broader push into AI-assisted development. It follows the company’s open-source Supabase Evals release, which helps test coding agents, and the beta launch of Sign in with ChatGPT. Together, those updates position Supabase as both infrastructure for AI-built applications and a data source that agents can operate directly.

There are still operational questions to resolve before connecting a production project. Supabase’s announcement does not detail connector pricing, permission granularity or approval controls for sensitive actions. Teams should review the connection flow and their existing database access policies, then begin with narrowly scoped workflows where an incorrect query, write or function invocation has limited impact.

Users can enable the integration from the official Supabase connector page. Supabase says new users can create a project and then connect it to Computer.

Frequently asked questions

What is Supabase connector on Perplexity Computer?

It is an integration that connects a Supabase project to Perplexity Computer. It allows the AI agent to query Postgres tables, look up users, write data and invoke Supabase Edge Functions from a chat-based workflow.

What can teams do with the connector?

Teams can investigate production data, retrieve user and sign-in information, test Edge Functions and schedule recurring database queries. Because Computer connects with other applications, these actions can also form part of workflows involving services such as Stripe, GitHub and Slack.

Is the Supabase connector available now, and what does it cost?

Supabase announced the connector as available through Perplexity Computer on August 7, 2026. The announcement does not specify separate connector pricing or identify which Perplexity plans are required.
