Perplexity has expanded access to its Computer platform, previously limited to Max subscribers, now making it available to Pro users. The move brings over 20 advanced AI models, prebuilt and custom skills, and hundreds of connectors to a broader subscriber base.
According to Perplexity's LinkedIn announcement, Pro subscribers can now access the full Computer suite at perplexity.ai/computer. Max subscribers retain advantages through monthly credits and higher spending limits compared to Pro tier users.
What Perplexity Computer Offers
Computer represents Perplexity's agentic AI platform, designed to automate workflows and integrate with external services. The platform provides access to multiple frontier models, allowing users to route tasks to the most appropriate AI for each job.
The suite includes prebuilt skills for common tasks as well as the ability to create custom skills tailored to specific workflows. With hundreds of connectors available, Computer can integrate with existing tools and services, positioning itself as a central hub for AI-powered work automation.
This expansion follows a series of rapid updates to Perplexity's platform. Earlier this month, the company introduced GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.4 Thinking for subscribers, and launched voice mode for enhanced user interaction.
Pro vs. Max Tiers
While both subscription tiers now have access to Computer's core capabilities, Perplexity maintains differentiation between them. Max subscribers receive monthly credits that can be applied toward Computer usage, along with elevated spending limits for heavier workloads.
The pricing structure suggests Perplexity is testing demand for agentic AI capabilities across different user segments. Pro subscribers gain entry to advanced automation features, while Max users get priority access through credits and higher limits.
Perplexity has not disclosed specific pricing for Computer usage beyond the base subscription costs, nor detailed how the credit system works for Max subscribers. The company's blog and changelog pages reference Computer as part of recent shipments but do not break down per-model or per-task costs.

The Computer platform competes with other agentic AI solutions entering the market, though Perplexity's focus on search and answer generation as a foundation differentiates its approach. Rather than building automation tools in isolation, Computer extends Perplexity's existing capabilities into workflow orchestration.
For builders and small business owners already using tools like Zapier or Make for automation, Computer offers a potentially more intelligent routing layer. The platform's model selection and custom skills could reduce the need for complex conditional logic in workflows, though integration depth with existing NoCode platforms remains to be tested.
Perplexity has been positioning itself beyond pure search, with recent moves including a partnership with Samsung for the Galaxy S26 and development of new embedding models for improved retrieval. Opening Computer to Pro subscribers signals the company's intent to compete in the enterprise AI agent space, not just consumer search.
The expansion arrives as competition intensifies in agentic AI. ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini all offer varying degrees of task automation, while specialized platforms focus on specific workflows. Perplexity's bet is that its search foundation and multi-model approach will prove more flexible than single-model systems.
Pro and Max subscribers can access Computer immediately through their existing subscriptions. Perplexity has not announced whether a free tier with limited Computer access is planned.
