Notion announced on LinkedIn the launch of a dedicated iOS app for Notion Agents, bringing its AI assistant capabilities to mobile users through voice, photos, and text input. The app is available now on the Apple App Store.
The standalone mobile app allows users to delegate work to Notion's AI agents without opening a computer. A voice note recorded during a commute, a photo of a napkin sketch from a meeting, or a late-night question can all be processed by agents before the user returns to their desk. The positioning suggests Notion is treating agents as a first-class mobile experience rather than a desktop-only feature.
Mobile-First Agent Access
The app represents a shift in how Notion delivers its agent functionality, which previously launched as an in-app feature for desktop users. By creating a separate iOS app, Notion is betting that users want immediate, frictionless access to AI assistance without navigating through the main workspace interface.
Users can send requests through multiple input methods. Voice notes provide hands-free operation for tasks like meeting prep or brainstorming. Photo uploads let users capture whiteboards, sketches, or documents for agents to process. Text input handles more structured queries. All three methods feed into the same agent workflow, which can generate content, organize information, or query databases.
The app connects to a user's existing Notion workspace, meaning agents have access to the same databases, pages, and context as the desktop experience. A request sent from the mobile app at 11 p.m. can pull from project timelines, team wikis, or meeting notes stored in Notion, then surface results when the user logs in the next morning.
Integration With Developer Platform
The timing aligns with Notion's broader push into AI and developer tools. The company recently introduced a Developer Platform that lets engineers build custom tools and integrations for Notion Agents. The platform includes Workers for syncing external data, a CLI for local development, and APIs for creating agent tools that can generate assets, query live data, or hit external services.
The iOS app extends this ecosystem by making custom agent tools accessible on mobile. A developer could build a tool that generates PowerPoint presentations from Notion pages or syncs Zendesk tickets into a database, and users could trigger those workflows from their phone through voice or photo input. The mobile app acts as a front-end for the agent capabilities Notion is building across its platform.
Notion has steadily added AI models to its agent toolkit in recent months, including Grok 4.5 for search-heavy tasks and Kimi K2.7 for coding assistance. The mobile app gives users access to the same model selection and configuration options available on desktop, though the interface is optimized for smaller screens and faster interactions.
Competitive Context
The launch positions Notion against other productivity apps adding mobile AI features. Tools like Cursor and Replit have prioritized desktop development environments, while Claude and ChatGPT offer standalone mobile apps but lack deep integration with user data. Notion's approach combines mobile accessibility with workspace context, giving agents visibility into projects, tasks, and knowledge bases.
The app is free to download, though access to Notion Agents requires a paid workspace plan. Notion has not disclosed pricing changes or usage limits specific to the mobile app. The company's Developer Platform remains in preview, with select features available to users testing custom integrations.
