MailerLite Adds One-Click Test Feature to Speed Up Automation Review

MailerLite has introduced a Test button in its automation builder that sends complete automation sequences to a user's inbox in one step, addressing a common pain point for email marketers who previously had to manually trigger each step to verify workflows.

The feature, shared in a LinkedIn post and detailed in the platform's automation tips, allows users to review branding, messaging, and timing across multi-step sequences before activating campaigns. For teams managing complex nurture flows or onboarding sequences, the change cuts review time from hours to minutes.

How the Test Function Works

Instead of stepping through each automation trigger manually, users can now click a single Test button within the automation builder. The platform sends the entire sequence to a designated email address, displaying how subscribers will experience the workflow from start to finish.

This matters most for campaigns with conditional logic, delays, or multiple branches. A welcome series might include five emails sent over two weeks; previously, validating that sequence required either waiting for real-time delays or triggering each step individually. The Test button collapses that process into an instant preview.

MailerLite overhauled its automation builder last year with drag-and-drop functionality and improved testing features. The new Test button builds on that foundation, giving users a faster way to catch copy errors, broken links, or formatting issues before campaigns reach live audiences.

Why Quick Testing Matters for Small Teams

For solo founders and small marketing teams, the feature reduces the friction of launching automations. A typical e-commerce abandoned cart sequence might include three reminder emails with different discount offers. Validating those emails individually meant creating test subscribers, manually advancing them through the workflow, and waiting for timed delays to trigger.

The one-click test eliminates those steps. Users can verify that discount codes populate correctly, images render properly, and calls to action link to the right landing pages without setting up elaborate test environments.

The update arrives as email platforms increasingly compete on workflow efficiency. Beehiiv and ConvertKit have similarly invested in preview and testing tools, recognizing that automation complexity grows fastest among their power users.

Where MailerLite Focuses Next

MailerLite positions the Test button as one of several "Lite Hacks" it shares regularly with users. The company has been expanding its automation capabilities steadily, including AI-powered campaign drafting tools and integrations with form builders like Typeform through Zapier.

The feature is available now to all MailerLite users in the automation builder. No additional setup is required; the Test button appears alongside existing workflow controls once an automation contains at least one email step.
