Glide Launches Data Backups for Big Tables on Enterprise Plans

Glide has released Data Backups for its Big Tables feature, offering Enterprise customers automated protection for their application data with customizable backup intervals and point-in-time restoration capabilities.

The no-code platform announced on LinkedIn that the feature is designed to address data safety and compliance requirements for IT and security teams managing mission-critical applications. Data Backups is available as a paid add-on for Enterprise plans and requires contacting Glide's sales team to enable.

Automated Protection for Mission-Critical Apps

Glide Big Tables, the platform's proprietary database solution, now supports scheduled backups that run automatically based on customer-defined intervals. This allows teams to maintain recovery points without manual intervention, reducing the risk of data loss from accidental deletion, corruption, or application errors.

The point-in-time restore capability lets administrators roll back to specific backup snapshots, which can be particularly valuable for organizations that need to demonstrate compliance with data retention policies or recover from unintended changes during app development.

While Glide has not disclosed specific technical details about backup frequency options or retention periods, the emphasis on customization suggests Enterprise customers can tailor backup schedules to their operational requirements and compliance frameworks.

Enterprise-Only Availability

The feature's positioning as an Enterprise add-on reflects Glide's continued push into larger organizations with complex data governance needs. Enterprise plans already include advanced security features, dedicated support, and higher usage limits compared to the platform's Business and Pro tiers.

By making Data Backups a paid add-on rather than including it in the base Enterprise plan, Glide appears to be targeting customers with specific regulatory or operational requirements rather than treating backups as a universal necessity. The sales-assisted activation process also suggests the feature may involve custom configuration or pricing based on data volume and backup frequency.

This release follows Glide's recent infrastructure investments, including the SheetSync technology for real-time synchronization between spreadsheets and apps. As Glide positions itself as an alternative to traditional development for internal business applications, data reliability and recoverability become table stakes for competing with established enterprise software.

Organizations interested in enabling Data Backups can contact Glide's sales team through the standard Enterprise inquiry process. The company has not announced whether similar backup capabilities will be extended to other data sources like Airtable or Google Sheets integrations, which remain popular among Glide's user base.
