Framer has added CMS integration to Wireframer, its AI-powered layout generation tool, allowing designers to generate blog layouts that automatically wire up to the Framer CMS. The update, announced on LinkedIn, eliminates manual configuration of CMS fields and links, streamlining the process of building content-driven pages.
The feature comes as Framer continues to expand its AI capabilities following recent upgrades to Workshop AI and the addition of full Markdown support to its CMS. Where Wireframer previously generated static layouts, it now understands CMS structure and can automatically connect dynamic content fields to layout elements.
How CMS-Powered Generation Works
When users generate a blog layout through Wireframer, the tool now sets up all necessary connections between the layout and Framer's CMS. This includes linking text fields to blog post titles and body content, connecting image placeholders to featured images, and establishing relationships between list items and collection entries. Designers can specify their content structure, and Wireframer handles the technical wiring.
The automation targets a specific pain point in the workflow. Previously, after generating a layout, users had to manually bind each element to its corresponding CMS field, a process that could take several minutes per page template. With the new integration, that step happens automatically during generation.
Impact on Design Velocity
The update compresses the timeline for building content-heavy sites. A typical blog setup that might have required creating index pages, post templates, and category archives, then individually wiring each to the CMS, now generates with those connections intact. This matters most for designers building multiple site variants or iterating quickly on layout ideas.
Framer's CMS already supports dynamic content through collections, filtering, and conditional visibility. By connecting Wireframer directly to these capabilities, the platform is positioning itself as a faster alternative to traditional website builders like Webflow, which require more manual setup for dynamic content.

The October update is available now to all Framer users through the standard Wireframer interface. The company has not disclosed whether the feature uses the same AI model powering Workshop or a separate system optimized for CMS understanding. Details on model architecture and training data remain unpublished.
