Figma Buzz Launches Approvals to Keep Marketing Workflows in One Place

Figma has launched Approvals for Figma Buzz, a feature designed to keep marketing and creative teams from bouncing between tools during the review process. The update, which rolled out today, lets collaborators request and grant approvals directly inside the Figma file, eliminating the need to chase sign-offs over email, Slack, or other channels.

The move addresses a common pain point for teams using Figma for marketing and content workflows. When a designer or marketer needs approval on an asset, the conversation often drifts outside the file, leading to version confusion, delayed feedback, and scattered decision trails. Approvals aims to close that loop by embedding the entire review-and-approval workflow into the canvas where the work lives.

How Approvals Works

Figma Buzz users can now request approval on specific elements or entire frames within a file. Reviewers receive a notification, examine the work in context, and approve or request changes without leaving Figma. The feature tracks approval status visually, so teams can see at a glance what's been signed off and what's still pending.

This builds on Figma's broader push to support non-design use cases. As we previously covered, the company has been expanding Buzz and its templated workflows to accommodate marketing, content creation, and even video projects. Approvals fits naturally into that strategy, giving marketing teams a reason to rely on Figma for more than just UI design.

Why This Matters for Small Teams

For small businesses and lean marketing teams, reducing tool sprawl is a practical win. Every tool switch costs time and attention, and approval workflows are especially prone to friction. By keeping everything in one file, Figma Buzz Approvals reduces the cognitive load of managing reviews across multiple platforms.

The feature also makes it easier to maintain a single source of truth. When approvals happen inside the file, there's no ambiguity about which version was approved or what feedback was addressed. That's particularly valuable for teams juggling multiple campaigns or working with external contractors who may not have access to internal communication tools.

Figma's recent updates have increasingly targeted collaborative workflows beyond traditional design. Earlier updates introduced native video playback and expanded file format support, signaling the company's intention to make Figma a broader creative workspace. Approvals continues that trajectory, positioning Figma as a central hub for creative operations, not just design handoff.

Availability

Approvals is rolling out to Figma Buzz users starting today. The feature is available to teams on paid Figma plans with access to Buzz. Users can expect to see it appear in their files over the coming days as the rollout completes. Figma has not specified whether Approvals will remain exclusive to Buzz or eventually extend to other parts of the platform.

For teams already using Figma for marketing assets, Approvals is a straightforward quality-of-life improvement. For those considering Figma Buzz as a replacement for tools like Canva or fragmented approval workflows, this update makes the case for consolidation a bit stronger.
