ElevenLabs Launches Music Marketplace for AI-Generated Tracks

ElevenLabs has launched a Music Marketplace within its ElevenCreative platform, extending its creator monetization model from voice to music. The marketplace allows creators to generate tracks, publish them, and earn revenue when other creators or businesses download or remix their work.

The company announced the launch on LinkedIn, positioning the Music Marketplace as a natural extension of its Voice Marketplace, which has paid out more than $11 million to creators. The new platform gives music creators a direct path from generation to distribution to earnings, all within the ElevenLabs ecosystem.

Commercial Music Licensing for Businesses

For marketers and businesses, the Music Marketplace offers a catalog of licensed, high-quality music ready for commercial use. The tracks are available for ads, content, events, and products, addressing a longstanding pain point for creators who need original music without complex licensing arrangements.

The marketplace model mirrors ElevenLabs' approach with voice, where creators can clone or generate voices and monetize them through commercial licensing. By applying the same infrastructure to music, the company is betting that AI-generated music will follow a similar adoption curve, with creators and businesses increasingly comfortable using synthetic audio in production environments.

ElevenLabs has been expanding aggressively across audio AI capabilities. The company deployed voice agents for eDreams ODIGEO's 7.8 million Prime members and partnered with IBM to deliver multilingual voice AI at enterprise scale. The Music Marketplace represents a shift from enterprise voice applications to consumer-facing creative tools.

Creator Monetization Model

The marketplace operates on a revenue-sharing model, though specific payout rates were not disclosed in the announcement. Creators generate tracks using ElevenCreative's AI music tools, then publish them to the marketplace. When another user downloads or remixes a track, the original creator earns a portion of the licensing fee.

This approach differentiates ElevenLabs from traditional stock music libraries like AudioJungle or Epidemic Sound, where human composers upload pre-recorded tracks. The Music Marketplace integrates AI generation directly into the creation and distribution workflow, potentially lowering the barrier for creators who lack traditional music production skills.

The launch comes as AI-generated music faces ongoing legal and ethical questions around copyright and originality. ElevenLabs has not publicly detailed how it handles attribution or ensures generated tracks do not infringe on existing copyrights, a challenge facing all generative audio platforms.

Expanding the ElevenCreative Platform

The Music Marketplace is the latest addition to ElevenCreative, which already includes tools for text-to-speech, voice cloning, and sound effects generation. By bundling music generation and monetization into the same platform, ElevenLabs is positioning itself as an end-to-end solution for creators working with AI audio.

For businesses, the value proposition is straightforward: licensed music without negotiations, rights clearances, or ongoing royalty payments. Whether creators will embrace the platform at the scale ElevenLabs achieved with voice remains to be seen, but the $11 million in Voice Marketplace payouts suggests the company has proven the model in at least one audio category.
