Databutton's Riff Launches No-Code AI App Builder With Native Business Tool Integrations

Databutton launched Riff's latest capability today, allowing users to build AI-powered applications without writing code while connecting directly to business tools like HubSpot, Notion, and Google Sheets. The platform now generates automated build plans and handles deployment through a natural language interface.

The update follows Databutton's rebrand to Riff as the company shifts focus toward enterprise AI app development. The new no-code builder demonstrated its speed in a test build where a marketing professional created a content brief generator in under three minutes, pulling live SEO data, People Also Ask questions, and internal link suggestions through external API integrations.

How the Build Process Works

Riff's workflow starts with plain English descriptions of the desired application. Users describe functionality in natural language, and the platform automatically generates a build plan showing every component before creating the app. The system then matches appropriate tools and services based on the requirements.

For the content brief generator example, Riff selected SerpAPI to handle live search ranking data and SEO metrics. Users upload API keys for external services, review the automated build plan, and deploy. The platform handles the technical implementation, including data connections and user interface generation.

The automated build plan represents a departure from traditional no-code builders that require manual component assembly. Riff interprets requirements and proposes architecture before building, giving users visibility into the structure without requiring technical knowledge of APIs or data flows.

Integration Capabilities and External Services

Riff now supports direct connections to business tools commonly used by marketing and operations teams. The HubSpot integration enables apps to read and write CRM data, while Notion connections allow apps to query and update workspace databases. Google Sheets integration provides spreadsheet data access for reporting and data manipulation tasks.

Beyond native integrations, Riff accommodates external services through API key authentication. The SerpAPI integration demonstrated in the content brief generator shows how users can combine Riff's no-code interface with specialized data services. This approach lets non-technical users access capabilities typically requiring custom development, from search engine result page analysis to competitor tracking.

The platform's API key management system stores credentials securely and handles authentication during app runtime. Users paste keys during the build process, and Riff configures the necessary connections without exposing technical details about authentication protocols or endpoint configurations.

Deployment and Availability

Riff handles deployment automatically after users approve the build plan. Apps go live immediately without requiring server configuration or hosting setup. The platform manages infrastructure, scaling, and maintenance behind the scenes.

Databutton is running a promotion through November 1, 2025, offering unlimited Riff credits for the remainder of 2025 to users who create and launch their first app before the deadline. The contest aims to encourage adoption among early users testing the platform's enterprise capabilities.

The launch builds on Riff's recent feature additions, including Riff Automations for workflow building and Google Gemini 3 support. The company has been positioning itself as an enterprise-focused alternative to consumer-oriented AI coding tools, targeting business users who need custom applications without engineering resources.

The content brief generator case demonstrates Riff's positioning for marketing and operations use cases where teams need purpose-built tools but lack development capacity. By combining natural language app building with business tool integrations, Riff aims to reduce the gap between identifying workflow needs and deploying solutions.
