Databutton has signed Glamox, a European professional lighting manufacturer, as an enterprise customer for Riff, its AI agent platform. The deployment marks one of the first industrial use cases where AI agents operate directly on core operational systems with write-back authority to systems of record.
Glamox is using Riff to automate manual workflows across procurement, customer success, order fulfillment, and planning. The agents integrate with Infor ERP, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and email, handling tasks that previously required human coordination across disconnected systems.
"This is a complete 180-degree shift from everything I have seen before," said Terje Løken, Chief Digital Officer at Glamox, in the announcement on LinkedIn. "Part of a wave that will leave a significant footprint on enterprises over the next decade."
From Automation to Agentic Workflows
The deployment differs from traditional robotic process automation in scope and authority. Riff agents don't just read data or trigger predefined workflows; they write directly back to Glamox's ERP, making decisions within guardrails set by the company.
Databutton has been positioning Riff for cross-system enterprise workflows since launching automations last year. The platform competes with tools like Zapier and Make, but focuses on agentic behavior rather than linear triggers and actions.
For Glamox, that means agents can handle exceptions in order processing, flag procurement bottlenecks, and coordinate across departments without hard-coded logic for every scenario. The agents operate alongside human teams, escalating decisions when needed but autonomously managing routine variance.
Industrial AI in Practice
Manufacturing supply chains remain heavily manual despite decades of ERP investment. Data lives in siloed systems, teams coordinate through email and chat, and edge cases require human judgment. Riff's bet is that large language models can now handle that context-switching and judgment at scale.
Glamox operates globally with a complex product catalog and customer base spanning commercial, industrial, and maritime sectors. Automating procurement alone requires navigating supplier variability, inventory constraints, and delivery timelines that shift daily.
Previous Riff deployments have targeted finance and sales teams with similar cross-system challenges. The Glamox deal extends that model into operational workflows where latency and accuracy directly impact production schedules and customer commitments.
The company has not disclosed pricing or timeline details, but the deployment is live and handling real transactions. Databutton's focus on write-back authority suggests the platform includes audit trails, rollback capabilities, and role-based permissions to mitigate risk in production environments.
Whether AI agents can scale across industrial operations remains an open question, but Glamox's endorsement signals growing enterprise appetite for tools that go beyond observability and reporting into autonomous action on mission-critical systems.
