Databutton announced a suite of production infrastructure features for its Riff platform, addressing a persistent challenge for teams building business applications with AI: making them secure and maintainable enough to actually deploy.
The update, announced on LinkedIn, bundles authentication, access control, secrets management, and logging directly into every app built on Riff. The company framed the release as essential infrastructure that AI development platforms should include by default, rather than forcing teams to retrofit security after the fact.
Built-In Security and Authentication
Every Riff app now ships with platform-owned authentication, removing the need for developers to build login systems from scratch. The platform includes one-click access control that can be applied to any API endpoint or page, plus SSO support at both the workspace and individual app level.
Native integrations with secrets management tools are included, allowing teams to handle API keys and credentials without hardcoding sensitive data. Security checks run automatically on every deployment, and comprehensive logging provides visibility into app behavior in production.
The company positioned these features as table stakes for business applications that need to remain dependable over years, not just on launch day. Following their recent governance layer announcement, Databutton continues building out enterprise capabilities for its AI-first development platform.
Competing on Production Readiness
The move puts Databutton in more direct competition with established low-code platforms like Bubble and Retool, which have spent years building production infrastructure. It also distinguishes Riff from newer AI coding tools like Bolt and Lovable, which focus primarily on rapid prototyping.
Databutton's pitch centers on eliminating the gap between AI-generated code and production-ready software. Many teams building with AI assistants struggle when moving from prototype to production, often discovering they need to rebuild authentication, add proper error handling, or implement access controls they didn't plan for initially.
By bundling these capabilities into the platform, Riff aims to let business users and citizen developers ship applications without requiring deep security expertise or infrastructure knowledge. The company has been steadily adding enterprise features, including GPT-5 support and Gemini 2.5 Pro integration in recent months.
The production infrastructure features are available immediately to all Riff users at Riff.ai. Databutton did not disclose whether these capabilities require paid plans or are included in free tiers.
