Buildship Launches Reddit Researcher to Auto-Track Product Mentions and Draft Replies

Reddit Researcher Automates Community Monitoring

Buildship has released Reddit Researcher, a new tool that automates the process of tracking product mentions, identifying trending topics, and drafting replies across Reddit communities. The feature, announced on LinkedIn, is available as a remixable template in the platform's workflow library.

The tool addresses a common challenge for product teams and community managers: manually scouring Reddit for relevant discussions about their products or competitors. Reddit Researcher continuously monitors specified subreddits or search queries, filters results by upvotes, recency, and engagement metrics, and generates draft responses that users can review before posting.

How It Works

Reddit Researcher operates as a Buildship workflow that connects to Reddit's API through the platform's Reddit Scraper node. Users configure search parameters, including keywords, subreddit targets, post limits, sorting preferences, and time filters. The workflow then pulls relevant posts and comments, ranks them according to user-defined criteria, and uses AI to generate contextually appropriate reply drafts.

The filtering system lets users prioritize posts based on multiple factors. A startup tracking competitor mentions might filter for posts with over 50 upvotes from the past 24 hours, while a developer relations team might prioritize posts with high comment counts regardless of recency.

Integration With Existing Workflows

Reddit Researcher builds on Buildship's broader push into social media intelligence tools. The company previously released an automated competitor intelligence workflow that monitors both Reddit and X for brand mentions and sentiment analysis.

Users can chain Reddit Researcher with other Buildship nodes to create more complex automation. One workflow might send Slack notifications when high-engagement posts mention specific keywords, while another could log all mentions to Airtable for weekly analysis. The auto-drafted replies can be routed through approval flows before posting, allowing teams to maintain quality control while reducing response time.

The tool's remix-first distribution model means users don't build from scratch. They clone the existing template, adjust parameters for their use case, and deploy. This approach has become standard for Buildship's new features, following similar releases like their blog-to-social tool and WhatsApp bot builder.

Positioning Against Alternatives

Reddit monitoring isn't new. Tools like Mention, Brand24, and F5Bot offer similar functionality, but typically as standalone SaaS products with fixed feature sets. Buildship's approach embeds Reddit monitoring into a broader workflow automation platform, letting users combine Reddit data with other APIs, databases, and AI models.

The auto-reply generation feature differentiates Reddit Researcher from pure monitoring tools. While competitors flag relevant posts, Buildship users can configure AI models to generate responses that match their brand voice and messaging guidelines. The system doesn't post automatically; it stages replies for human review, addressing concerns about AI-generated spam while still reducing the time teams spend drafting responses.

Technical Foundation

Reddit Researcher relies on the Reddit Scraper node that Buildship added to its node library in June 2025, according to the platform's changelog. That node handles Reddit API authentication, rate limiting, and data parsing. Users can access post metadata including scores, comment counts, author information, and timestamps.

The workflow runs on Buildship's backend infrastructure, which means users don't need to manage servers or worry about API rate limits exceeding their quota. Enterprise customers can connect their GitHub repositories to version control their workflows and set up CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.

Buildship has not disclosed pricing specifics for Reddit Researcher. The tool is available to all Buildship users, with execution costs determined by API calls and AI model usage within individual workflows.
