Bubble announced on LinkedIn that its AI Agent can now generate API Connector calls directly from natural language prompts. The update removes a significant layer of technical work that previously required builders to manually configure endpoints, structure authentication, and wire dynamic variables.
The API Connector has long been a core feature for Bubble users building robust applications that integrate with external services. Until now, using it meant understanding REST principles, knowing which endpoints to target, and managing authentication flows by hand. That knowledge still provides leverage, but the new AI capability allows builders to describe what they need in plain language and have the agent produce the configured call.
How the AI Agent Handles API Configuration
When a builder describes an API call in natural language, the AI Agent interprets the request and generates the necessary configuration inside the API Connector. This includes selecting the correct HTTP method, structuring the endpoint URL, adding authentication headers, and mapping dynamic parameters to Bubble's data fields.
The feature builds on Bubble's recent AI integrations, which added Claude Fable to the platform after internal quality testing. That move signaled a broader push to embed AI assistance throughout the editor, and today's update extends that into API workflows.
Bubble positions the change as a speed improvement rather than a replacement for technical knowledge. Experienced builders who understand API architecture will still benefit from that understanding, particularly when debugging or optimizing performance. But the AI Agent lowers the barrier for those who know what data they need without necessarily knowing how to structure the HTTP request.
Impact on Development Speed
The practical effect is faster iteration when connecting to third-party services. Instead of consulting API documentation, testing endpoints in a separate tool, and translating that work into Bubble's interface, builders can now describe the goal and let the agent handle the configuration.
This is especially relevant for founders and small teams building SaaS products, marketplaces, or internal tools where API integrations are table stakes. Payment processors, CRM systems, email services, and data providers all require API calls, and each one historically represented a configuration task that could take 20 minutes or more to set up correctly.
Bubble has been steadily reducing technical friction across its platform. Earlier this year, the company launched Global Expressions to sync app logic automatically, and introduced Mobile Quickstart to simplify native app creation. The AI Agent update continues that trajectory by targeting one of the most common technical bottlenecks in no-code development.
What It Means for No-Code Platforms
Bubble's approach reflects a broader trend among no-code platforms: using AI to eliminate configuration steps that don't require human judgment. Tools like Zapier and Make have similarly begun adding AI features to automate workflow setup, and code-focused platforms like Cursor and Replit use LLMs to generate entire functions from descriptions.
The difference with Bubble is the scope: the platform handles both frontend UI and backend logic, so an AI agent that can configure API calls has immediate utility across the entire stack. A builder working on a user dashboard can describe the data they need from an external API, and the agent produces the call inline without requiring a context switch.
The update is available now to all Bubble users. The company has not disclosed which language model powers the API Connector feature, but given their recent adoption of Claude Fable, it's likely running on Anthropic's infrastructure.
