Bubble Rolls Out API Connector Overhaul With Drag and Drop, Search, Context Notes
Bubble has shipped a suite of upgrades to its API Connector, overhauling how developers organize and navigate external integrations inside the no-code platform. The updates, announced on LinkedIn, include contextual action menus, drag-and-drop support for collections, instant search, and inline notes for documentation.
The changes aim to reduce friction for teams managing multi-API workflows, particularly those juggling dozens of endpoints across services. Bubble says more improvements are in the pipeline and has invited users to test the new features and provide feedback.
Three-Dot Menus and Drag-and-Drop Collections
The API Connector now surfaces actions through three-dot context menus, placing operations like edit, duplicate, and delete directly next to each call or collection. Previously, users had to navigate away from their current view to perform these tasks.
Drag-and-drop functionality has also been extended to collections, not just individual API calls. Developers can now reorder entire groups of endpoints by dragging them into place, making it easier to organize workflows by priority or logical sequence. The feature is particularly useful for agencies or internal teams managing dozens of calls across multiple third-party services like Stripe, Airtable, or custom backends built with Xano or Supabase.
Instant Search and Inline Notes
Bubble has added search functionality directly into the API Connector interface. Users can now filter calls and collections by name without scrolling through long lists. The feature was a frequent request from developers managing large projects with 50-plus API endpoints.
The platform also introduced a Notes field for each API call and collection. Teams can now leave context directly in the interface, documenting edge cases, rate limits, or parameter requirements without relying on external wikis or Slack threads. Notes appear inline and persist across versions, making it easier for new team members to understand why certain endpoints were configured in specific ways.
Bubble has been iterating aggressively on editor ergonomics in recent months. The company overhauled its Property Editor with drag-and-drop conditionals in March and shipped structured sidebars in its AI App Generator in April. The API Connector updates extend that same attention to backend workflows, where developers spend significant time wiring up external services.
The updates are available now to all Bubble users. The company has not provided a timeline for additional API Connector improvements but indicated that further changes are in development.
