Perplexity announced on LinkedIn that its Computer feature can now connect directly to Snowflake data warehouses. The integration lets users run SQL queries against live company data and build dashboards and automations without leaving the Perplexity interface.
The update positions Computer, Perplexity's AI-powered data analysis tool, as a conversational layer on top of enterprise data warehouses. Users can ask questions in natural language and receive answers backed by SQL queries, source tables, filters, and metrics pulled directly from their Snowflake instance.
Querying Live Warehouse Data
The Snowflake connection enables Computer to access real-time data for pipeline analysis, product usage metrics, customer segmentation, and other business intelligence tasks. Rather than exporting data or switching between tools, users can query their warehouse directly through Perplexity's interface.
Perplexity describes the feature as "like a personal data science team, on call with accurate answers from live company data." The integration handles end-to-end workflows, from formulating queries to generating visualizations, all within a single conversational interface.
This builds on Computer's existing capabilities, which previously expanded to include sandboxed code execution and content scanning for security. The tool has evolved from a simple answer engine into a platform for executing complex data operations.
Admin Controls and Data Governance
Perplexity emphasizes that administrators retain full control over access permissions, business definitions, and shared data logic. This addresses a common concern with AI tools accessing sensitive company data: organizations can define what data Computer can query and how business metrics are calculated, ensuring consistency across the organization.
The governance layer lets admins set up shared definitions that all users inherit. If a company defines "active user" or "monthly recurring revenue" in a specific way, those definitions apply uniformly when anyone queries the data through Computer.
Dashboard and Automation Capabilities
Beyond answering one-off questions, Computer can now build dashboards from Snowflake data. Users can create visualizations for metrics like pipeline health, feature adoption, or customer cohorts without writing code or using separate business intelligence tools.
The automation features let users set up recurring queries or triggers based on warehouse data. This could include alerting when certain thresholds are met, generating regular reports, or updating external systems based on data changes in Snowflake.
The integration reflects a broader trend of AI tools connecting to enterprise data infrastructure. As companies store more operational data in cloud warehouses like Snowflake, tools that can query and analyze that data conversationally become more valuable. Perplexity's approach combines its natural language processing capabilities with direct database access, potentially reducing the technical barrier to working with warehouse data.
The Snowflake integration is available now through Computer. Organizations interested in connecting their warehouse can learn more on Perplexity's website.
