OpenClaw released version 2026.6.5 this week with a focus on speed, security, and stability. The update bundles parallel web search, introduces new installation controls for skills and plugins, and includes several fixes aimed at reducing agent failures.
The release follows recent security improvements and comes as the locally-run AI agent continues to expand its enterprise partnerships.
Parallel Web Search Now Bundled
The headline feature is bundled parallel web search, which allows OpenClaw to query multiple sources simultaneously rather than sequentially. This should reduce latency when agents need to gather information from the web before taking action.
OpenClaw runs entirely on users' devices and operates through chat apps like Slack and Discord, positioning it as a privacy-focused alternative to cloud-based AI agents. The parallel search capability maintains that local execution model while improving response times.
Security Policy for Skill Installation
Version 2026.6.5 introduces security.installPolicy, a new mechanism that gives users control over when and how skills or plugins can be installed. The feature builds on OpenClaw's recent work with NVIDIA on skill security, including the SkillSpector scanning tool announced in early June.
The installation policy lets users set approval requirements before new capabilities are added to their agent. This addresses a core challenge in agent systems: balancing automation with user control. OpenClaw has been steadily adding guardrails, including exec approval workflows introduced in May.
Matrix Voice and Thread Fixes
The update includes fixes for Matrix voice functionality and thread handling. Matrix is an open-source messaging protocol, and OpenClaw's integration allows users to interact with their agent through Matrix clients.
Thread handling improvements address a common pain point where agent responses would sometimes appear in the wrong conversation context or fail to maintain conversation state across multiple turns.
Hardened Anthropic and MCP Recovery
OpenClaw has strengthened error recovery for interactions with Anthropic's API and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The company describes this as "hardening" the recovery logic to reduce failures when API calls timeout or return unexpected responses.
This continues work from earlier releases focused on stability. In April, the team acknowledged a difficult period with the 2026.4.24 and 2026.4.29 releases and committed to improving reliability.
"Less chaos. More claws," the team wrote in their LinkedIn announcement, summarizing the release's focus on reducing friction and improving the agent's operational stability.
The release is available now. OpenClaw remains open source and can be installed on Mac, Windows, and Linux systems.
