MailerLite Launches MCP Server to Connect Claude and Gemini Directly to Email Data

MailerLite Launches MCP Server for AI-Powered Email Analysis

MailerLite announced on LinkedIn that it has launched an MCP server that connects AI tools like Claude and Gemini directly to users' email marketing data. The integration allows marketers to query campaign performance, identify weak points in automation sequences, and compare content types without manually exporting reports or building custom dashboards.

MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a standardized method for AI assistants to access external data sources in real time. By implementing an MCP server, MailerLite gives Claude and Gemini the ability to read campaign stats, subscriber segments, and automation metrics directly from a user's account. This differs from their earlier ChatGPT integration, which required users to manually feed data into prompts.

How It Works

The setup requires no code and no downloads. Users connect their MailerLite account to the MCP server with a single authentication step, then begin querying their data through natural language prompts in Claude or Gemini.

MailerLite provided several example queries in its announcement:

  • "What were my top 3 newsletters last quarter and what made them successful?"
  • "Compare my weekly newsletters vs. promo emails, which ones get more clicks?"
  • "Which email in my best automation has the highest drop-off rate?"

Each prompt triggers the AI to pull relevant metrics from MailerLite's API, analyze patterns, and return actionable recommendations. The system can surface insights that would typically require cross-referencing multiple reports or exporting data to a spreadsheet.

Why MCP Matters for Email Marketers

Email marketing platforms generate vast amounts of data, but extracting useful insights often requires manual work. Marketers spend time filtering segments, comparing open rates across campaigns, and identifying which subject lines or send times perform best. An AI assistant with direct API access can do this work in seconds.

The MCP approach also keeps sensitive subscriber data within MailerLite's infrastructure. Rather than copying campaign reports into a third-party AI chat interface, users grant the AI temporary read access to specific metrics. The AI never stores subscriber email addresses or personally identifiable information.

MailerLite's implementation joins a growing list of business tools adding MCP support. The protocol was introduced by Anthropic in late 2024 and has since been adopted by project management platforms, CRMs, and analytics tools looking to offer AI-driven insights without building custom integrations for every language model.

Setup and Availability

The MCP server is available now to all MailerLite users. According to the LinkedIn post, setup takes just a few clicks: users authenticate their MailerLite account, grant API permissions, and start querying data through Claude or Gemini.

MailerLite has not specified whether the feature requires a paid plan or if it's accessible to free-tier users. The company also did not announce support for other AI models beyond Claude and Gemini, though MCP's open standard means additional integrations could follow.

For teams already using automation workflows via Zapier or other connectors, the MCP server offers a complementary approach. Instead of triggering actions based on subscriber behavior, it surfaces historical trends and performance gaps that inform strategy decisions.

The launch reflects a broader shift in email marketing tools, where AI assistants are moving from content generation, MailerLite's focus here is on data analysis and campaign optimization, helping users identify what's working and where to refine their approach.
