Mailchimp Launches Direct Canva Publishing Integration for Email Campaigns

Mailchimp has launched a new integration with Canva that eliminates a longstanding friction point for email marketers: moving visual designs from creation to campaign without losing formatting or needing developer help.

The Publish to Mailchimp feature allows users to send Canva designs directly into Mailchimp as complete email campaigns. Layouts remain intact, links stay clickable, and the need for manual uploads or HTML handoffs disappears. For small business owners juggling product launches, promotions, and announcements without a dedicated design team, this removes several steps from the workflow.

How the Integration Works

Users design their email in Canva as usual, then select the Publish to Mailchimp option. The design exports with all formatting preserved, including buttons, images, and hyperlinks. Mailchimp receives it as a ready-to-send email campaign, not a static image that needs reassembly.

This addresses a common workflow problem. Many marketers create polished visuals in Canva but then face the tedious process of recreating them in their email platform, often losing design fidelity in translation. The integration bridges that gap by maintaining the original layout and interactive elements during transfer.

What This Means for Email Workflow

The update is most useful for businesses that rely on visual campaigns but lack in-house HTML expertise. Product drops, seasonal promotions, and event announcements often require quick turnarounds with professional design standards. Being able to move from concept to campaign without technical translation shortens production time.

Mailchimp has been steadily building out its ecommerce and campaign automation features. Recent enhancements have focused on ROI tracking and site behavior tracking to help retailers connect email performance to revenue. This Canva integration fits that pattern by reducing operational friction for one of the most common use cases: getting attractive emails out the door faster.

The feature is available now to Mailchimp users. Those already working in Canva for other marketing assets can now use the same tool for email design without switching platforms or compromising on layout quality. For teams where the same person handles design and email execution, this eliminates a handoff entirely.

Mailchimp positions the update as a response to user requests, suggesting demand for tighter integration between design tools and email platforms has been building. As visual content becomes table stakes for effective email marketing, the ability to maintain design integrity across tools becomes less of a nice-to-have and more of a baseline expectation.
