Lovable Introduces Payments Feature With One-Minute Setup and Global Tax Support

Lovable Brings Payments to Conversational Development

Lovable has launched Payments, a new feature that lets users add payment collection to their apps using only natural language prompts. The update extends the platform's conversational development model to e-commerce and monetization, allowing builders to describe what they want to sell and have Lovable configure the payment flow.

The feature promises a one-minute setup process and includes secure testing environments where changes can be validated before going live. Lovable has also built in support for VAT, sales tax, and currency conversion across more than 200 countries, addressing one of the more complex aspects of global commerce for small teams.

Chat-First Commerce Configuration

Payments joins Lovable's existing capabilities for building web applications through conversation. Users can ask the platform to add payment functionality to a project and receive a working implementation without writing code or manually configuring payment APIs.

The feature includes:

  • Payment connection setup in under a minute
  • A secure testing mode for validating changes before publishing
  • Natural language queries about payment data and transaction history
  • Automatic handling of international tax requirements and currency conversion

The approach fits Lovable's broader strategy of abstracting technical complexity behind conversational interfaces. Rather than requiring builders to understand webhook configurations or tax calculation logic, the platform handles infrastructure details while letting users focus on product decisions.

Global Tax Compliance Built In

One of the more significant technical aspects of the launch is the tax and currency handling. Supporting VAT and sales tax calculations across 200-plus countries typically requires integrating third-party tax services or building custom logic for each jurisdiction. Lovable appears to have bundled this complexity into the platform itself, potentially reducing both development time and compliance risk for teams selling internationally.

The feature also allows users to query their payment data conversationally, extending the chat interface beyond setup into ongoing operations and analytics.

Broader Context on Lovable's Product Direction

Payments arrives as Lovable continues expanding what can be built through conversation. The platform recently added file generation and data analysis capabilities, allowing users to create downloadable documents and analyze uploaded data without leaving the chat interface. It also launched Groups for team-based access control and project management.

The Payments feature represents a shift from purely building UI and logic to enabling monetization workflows. For creators using platforms like Gumroad, Stripe, or Buy Me A Coffee to collect payments separately from their apps, Lovable's integrated approach could simplify the stack, assuming it provides sufficient flexibility for different business models.

Lovable has not disclosed which payment processor powers the feature or whether users can bring their own payment accounts. Pricing details for payment processing fees were also not included in the announcement. The feature is live now for Lovable users across Free, Pro, and Business plans.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
