Intercom introduced Monitors, a new feature designed to give customer service teams complete oversight of AI agent performance and conversation quality, announced at the Fin Labs event in Paris last week.
The three-day event brought together customer service leaders for hands-on sessions with Intercom's AI tools, culminating in the Monitors launch. According to the company, the feature addresses a core challenge as teams scale AI adoption: maintaining confidence that every customer interaction meets their standards.
From Black Box to Transparent Control
Monitors sits within what Intercom calls the Fin Flywheel, a continuous improvement cycle for AI agents that includes training, testing, deployment, and analysis. The new tool focuses specifically on the analysis phase, providing real-time visibility into how AI agents handle conversations.
The feature allows teams to set quality benchmarks and receive alerts when conversations fall outside acceptable parameters. This builds on recent updates focused on agent visibility, giving support leaders more granular control over AI behavior at scale.
For organizations using Fin AI agents, which Intercom reports can automate up to 81% of support queries, Monitors provides the operational guardrails needed to deploy AI confidently across diverse customer scenarios.
Fin Labs: Bridging Strategy and Execution
The Paris event structured three days around moving from AI fundamentals to practical implementation. Day one opened with Deepina's overview of AI agent evolution and opportunities for customer experience teams, followed by sessions led by Maxime and Caitlin mapping maturity paths from early AI adoption to full integration.
Afternoon sessions shifted to hands-on work, with existing Fin customers focused on improving accuracy and measurable outcomes. The Monitors announcement closed the first day, framing the feature as essential infrastructure for quality assurance as AI agent use expands.
Intercom has positioned Monitors as solving what they describe as the AI black box problem. As customer service teams delegate more interactions to AI, the ability to monitor, measure, and adjust behavior becomes critical. The feature gives teams data on conversation quality without requiring them to manually review every interaction.
Building Confidence at Scale
The timing follows broader momentum in Intercom's AI push. Recent updates have included Shopify integration streamlined to under two minutes and voice capability improvements, all aimed at making AI deployment faster and more reliable.
Monitors adds the control layer that enterprise teams need to justify expanding AI usage. By surfacing quality metrics and flagging anomalies, it provides the operational visibility that compliance, quality assurance, and customer experience teams require when AI handles customer-facing work.
Intercom plans to share additional insights from Fin Labs Paris in coming weeks. The company has not disclosed pricing or availability details for Monitors beyond confirming it launched during the event.
