ElevenLabs has partnered with Stan Lee Universe to bring the late comic book icon's voice to its AI audio platform, making it available across multiple products including the Iconic Marketplace and ElevenReader.
The voice replica, crafted from professional recordings, aims to capture what the Stan Lee Universe team describes as the wit and warmth fans associate with the legendary Marvel creator. According to the company, the partnership addresses a frequent fan sentiment: when reading Stan Lee's comics, many hear his distinctive voice narrating the words.
Stan Lee Book of the Month Club Launches in ElevenReader
The collaboration extends beyond voice cloning. ElevenLabs is launching the Stan Lee Book of the Month Club inside ElevenReader, starting with June's selection: Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. The feature follows ElevenLabs' recent addition of 200,000 premium audiobooks to the platform for $11 per month.
ElevenReader uses AI to convert text into natural-sounding audio, allowing users to listen to articles, books, and documents in various voices. The Stan Lee Book of the Month Club will presumably let subscribers experience classic literature narrated in the voice of one of comic books' most recognizable personalities.
The partnership also brings Stan Lee's likeness to ElevenCreative Templates, enabling fans to generate cameo-style moments reminiscent of his famous Marvel film appearances. These templates should allow users to create video content featuring the comic creator's image, though specific details about how the feature works were not disclosed in the announcement.
Music and Creative Tools Get Stan Lee Treatment
Two Stan Lee-inspired Finetunes are now available on ElevenCreative Music, accessible to all ElevenLabs users. The company recently launched Speech Engine to convert chat agents into voice agents and has been expanding its creative tools across multiple verticals.
The move represents a significant celebrity partnership for ElevenLabs, which has been growing its Iconic Marketplace with voice replicas of public figures. The company crossed $500 million in annual recurring revenue in May and welcomed new investors including BlackRock, NVIDIA, Jamie Foxx, and Eva Longoria, according to a blog post from the company.
Stan Lee Universe, which manages the late creator's estate and legacy, appears to view the partnership as a way to keep his voice and persona accessible to new generations of fans. Stan Lee passed away in 2018 at age 95, but his influence on modern entertainment through Marvel Comics and the subsequent film universe remains substantial.
ElevenLabs has not disclosed pricing for the Stan Lee voice replica in the Iconic Marketplace or whether it will be bundled with existing subscription tiers. The company offers various plans ranging from free to enterprise-level access, with different voice cloning and generation capabilities at each tier.
