ElevenLabs announced ElevenMusic, a new platform for discovering, creating, and earning from AI-generated music. The company, known for its AI voice technology, is now extending its creator revenue model into music with a curated catalog of over 4,000 independent and emerging artists.
The platform lets users start with a lyric, melody, or mood and transform it into a full track using ElevenLabs' music model. Users can also remix tracks from the catalog, publish their work, and earn based on listener engagement. ElevenLabs says it has already distributed over $11 million to creators through its voice library program and is bringing a similar model to music.
From Listening to Creation
ElevenMusic positions itself as both a discovery and creation tool. The platform's Explore section surfaces artists curated to individual taste, while the Studio enables users to create from scratch or remix existing tracks.
The launch coincides with the Eleven Album Vol. 2, featuring artists whose tracks are available exclusively on ElevenMusic for listening and remixing. The album serves as a showcase for the platform's capabilities and an early test of its creator ecosystem.
Earnings depend on listener engagement, eligibility thresholds, and platform revenue, according to the company's Creator Royalty Terms. The structure mirrors streaming services but with AI creation tools built directly into the experience.
Expanding Beyond Voice
ElevenLabs has steadily expanded its AI audio offerings over the past year. The company launched ElevenAgents for Support to power customer service voice AI and added multimodal support to ElevenAgents across WhatsApp and web platforms. The company also entered the public sector with a government division focused on voice services.
The move into music represents a logical extension of ElevenLabs' audio generation technology but also puts the company in a more complex creative space. Music platforms face questions about copyright, artist compensation, and whether AI-generated content diminishes opportunities for human musicians.
ElevenLabs has structured ElevenMusic around emerging artists rather than established catalogs. By curating independent musicians and positioning the platform as a launchpad for discovery, the company may be attempting to sidestep some of the controversies that have surrounded other AI music tools.
The $11 million paid out through the voice library suggests ElevenLabs is serious about sustaining a creator economy, though details on how music royalties will compare remain unclear. The platform's success will depend on whether it can attract enough listeners to make earnings meaningful for musicians, and whether those musicians see value in an AI-assisted creation process.
ElevenMusic is available now, with access to the Eleven Album Vol. 2 and remix tools open to users on the platform.
