Discord Adds Meta Quest Integration to Share VR Activity Across Platforms

Discord is rolling out a new integration that connects its platform with Meta's VR ecosystem. Starting today, players can link their Discord account to their Meta Horizon profile, automatically broadcasting their Quest activity to friends and communities.

The integration marks Discord's latest move to deepen its presence in gaming outside traditional PC and console spaces. Once connected, the system shares which games, apps, and experiences users are running on Quest headsets directly to Discord, similar to how the platform already displays activity from Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.

How the Integration Works

The setup process follows Discord's existing account linking pattern. Users navigate to their Discord settings, connect their Meta Horizon profile, and authorize the integration. From that point, Quest activity appears automatically in their Discord status, visible to friends and server members who can see their online presence.

Meta announced the feature on its blog with additional technical details about the rollout. The integration supports the full range of Quest experiences, from standalone VR games to social apps and productivity tools available through Meta's platform.

For Discord, the move expands its Rich Presence system into virtual reality. The feature has become a core part of how users share what they're playing, with Discord previously building tools to help game developers integrate their titles more deeply into the platform.

Why This Matters for VR Communities

The integration addresses a gap in how VR players connect with broader gaming communities. While Quest has its own social features through Meta Horizon, many VR enthusiasts already use Discord to coordinate sessions, discuss games, and stay connected when not in headsets.

Automatic status sharing could make it easier for communities to organize multiplayer VR sessions. Instead of manually announcing what they're playing, Quest users can let their Discord status do the work, potentially increasing spontaneous meetups in VR spaces.

The timing aligns with Meta's broader push to position Quest as a social platform, not just a gaming device. By connecting with Discord's 200 million monthly active users, Meta gains another channel for Quest activity to reach potential players.

Discord has steadily expanded its gaming integrations over the past year. The company launched its Social SDK to help developers build community features directly into games, and continues adding platform connections that let users share their gaming activity across ecosystems.

The Meta Horizon integration is available now through a gradual rollout. Discord users can check their account settings to see if the option to connect their Meta profile has appeared.
