Anthropic is deepening its push into financial services with a suite of tools designed to embed Claude directly into workflows used by analysts, portfolio managers, and research teams. The company announced an Excel add-in, real-time data connectors to major market intelligence providers, and pre-built Agent Skills for common financial tasks like building cash flow models and drafting coverage reports.
The expansion builds on Claude's recent partnerships with institutional investors like Norges Bank and BCI, where the AI assistant was deployed for market analysis and research. Now, Anthropic is packaging those capabilities into plug-and-play integrations that work inside the spreadsheets and data terminals financial professionals already use.
Real-Time Data From LSEG, Moody's, and Specialized Providers
Claude can now pull live market data from LSEG (formerly Refinitiv), Moody's Analytics, Aiera, Third Bridge, and MT Newswires. For private market analysis, it connects to Chronograph and Egnyte. These integrations allow users to query current prices, analyst estimates, earnings transcripts, and proprietary research without leaving their chat interface or switching between platforms.
The connectors are built to work with Claude Sonnet 4.5, which Anthropic says delivers industry-leading performance on finance-specific benchmarks. Financial firms including Moody's Analytics, RBC, The Carlyle Group, and Amwins are already using the updated platform in production, according to the company's announcement.
Unlike generic AI tools that require users to copy-paste data or manually format prompts, these connectors are designed to handle structured financial queries natively. An analyst can ask Claude to "pull the latest EPS estimates for Tesla from LSEG" or "summarize Third Bridge expert calls on semiconductor supply chains," and the AI retrieves and formats the information automatically.
Excel Add-In and Pre-Built Agent Skills
The new Excel add-in lets users invoke Claude directly from a spreadsheet cell, turning natural language requests into formulas, data transformations, or analysis outputs. This mirrors recent moves by competitors like ChatGPT, which has experimented with spreadsheet integrations, but Anthropic's version is optimized for financial modeling tasks where accuracy and auditability matter.
Pre-built Agent Skills handle repeatable workflows. One skill builds multi-year cash flow models from a company's financials and assumptions; another generates initiating coverage reports formatted to match a firm's house style. These aren't simple templates. They're agentic workflows that can pull data, apply financial logic, and produce polished outputs ready for review.
For firms worried about hallucinations or compliance risk, the skills are designed to be auditable. Users can trace how Claude arrived at a calculation or which data sources it used, a requirement in regulated environments where every number needs a paper trail.
The updates position Claude as a productivity layer for knowledge workers in finance, a sector that has been cautious about adopting generative AI due to regulatory scrutiny and the high cost of errors. By integrating with trusted data vendors and offering workflows that fit existing processes, Anthropic is making a case that AI can augment analysts without replacing the judgment calls that define their work.
More details on the financial services expansion are available in Anthropic's official announcement.
