Bubble Launches Security Fundamentals Course to Counter AI-Generated Vulnerabilities

Bubble has released a new Security Fundamentals course in its Academy, directly addressing a concern that's been mounting across the no-code community: applications built with AI-generated logic often ship with security gaps their creators never intended.

The course, developed by longtime Bubble community member Petter Amlie, teaches builders how to use the platform's built-in security features, which are included across all paid plans. According to Bubble's LinkedIn announcement, the lessons cover how the platform's privacy layer functions, where vulnerabilities typically form, and how to configure applications to protect user data.

Why Security Training Matters Now

The timing isn't coincidental. As AI Agents increasingly handle app generation, the gap between speed and security has widened. Tools like Cursor and Lovable can scaffold entire applications in minutes, but they don't inherently understand the nuances of data privacy rules or user access patterns.

Bubble's approach differs from platforms like Replit or v0, which lean heavily on generated code. Because Bubble uses a visual workflow system, security configurations are explicit rather than buried in lines of logic. The new course is designed to help builders take advantage of that structure.

The course covers:

  • How Bubble's privacy layer controls data access at the database level
  • Common misconfiguration patterns that expose sensitive information
  • Step-by-step guidance for setting up role-based permissions
  • Best practices for API authentication and external integrations

Built-In vs. Bolted-On Security

Unlike platforms such as Xano or Supabase, where developers configure security rules separately from the application layer, Bubble embeds privacy controls directly into its data structure. Every data type can have visibility rules, and every workflow can be restricted based on user roles or custom conditions.

This architectural choice makes security harder to overlook but easier to misconfigure if builders don't understand the system. That's the gap the new Academy course is designed to close.

Bubble notes that additional lessons are planned, with users able to subscribe for notifications when new content drops. The company has been expanding its educational resources significantly over the past year, previously updating its API Connector interface to make integrations more transparent.

What This Means for Builders

For teams using Bubble in production, especially those handling sensitive user data or operating in regulated industries, the Security Fundamentals course offers a structured way to audit existing applications and establish baseline protections.

The course is available now through Bubble Academy. Builders on any paid plan, from Personal to Enterprise, have access to the security features covered in the training. The company hasn't specified a timeline for future lessons but indicated that the series will continue expanding based on community feedback and emerging security patterns.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
