From Design File to Working UI
Bubble's AI Agent has added a capability that many no-code builders have been requesting: the ability to turn design references into functional interfaces. Users can now upload a Figma export, screenshot of an app they admire, or any UI inspiration, and the Agent will construct that interface directly in the Bubble editor.
The feature, announced on LinkedIn, represents a shift from text-based prompts to visual input. Rather than describing a layout in words, builders can simply show the Agent what they want.
This follows a series of AI Agent improvements from Bubble over recent months. The platform recently cut generation time in half and upgraded to Claude 3.7 Sonnet, while adding image upload support just weeks ago. The new design-to-build workflow appears to be the natural extension of that image processing foundation.
Smarter App Understanding
Beyond visual input, Bubble says the AI Agent has improved how it interprets existing apps. The update includes better expression generation, which should result in more accurate logic when the Agent creates or modifies workflows and database queries.
The company also highlighted clearer guidance from the Agent. After making changes, it now provides more actionable explanations of what it did and what the user should do next. For builders working iteratively with AI assistance, that context can be the difference between a useful suggestion and a confusing one.
These improvements come as Bubble continues expanding the Agent's capabilities. Earlier updates added structured sidebars and reusable components to AI-generated apps, addressing common complaints about code quality from AI tools.
Design-to-Code Competition
Bubble is not the only platform exploring design file conversion. Tools like Locofy have focused specifically on Figma-to-code workflows, while AI coding assistants like v0 and Lovable increasingly accept visual references alongside text prompts. Anthropic's Claude also recently shipped design interpretation features that turn screenshots into functional interfaces.
What sets Bubble's implementation apart is the target output. Rather than generating standalone code, the Agent produces native Bubble elements, complete with the platform's visual workflows and database connections. For teams already building on Bubble, that means design references can be translated into production-ready components without leaving the ecosystem.
The design upload feature is available now to Bubble users with access to the AI Agent. Pricing details were not included in the announcement, but the Agent has been rolling out gradually as part of Bubble's existing plans.
