Bolt Targets Production with Infrastructure Partnership
Bolt announced a cloud platform designed to move AI-generated applications from prototype to production scale. The service, built in partnership with Netlify and Supabase, includes hosting, database, authentication, and payment infrastructure directly integrated into the vibe coding environment.
Every new Bolt project now includes built-in hosting with SEO optimization and custom domain support. The company is also opening a private beta for database, authentication, payment processing, serverless functions, file storage, and analytics features.
The announcement addresses a common criticism of prompt-based development tools: they excel at rapid prototyping but struggle with the infrastructure required to support real users at scale. Bolt's approach embeds production infrastructure into the same interface where developers describe and modify their applications through natural language.
What Ships Today
Bolt projects created after the announcement include:
- Hosting on Netlify's edge network
- SEO metadata configuration
- Custom domain connection
- One-click publishing from the Bolt interface
The company previously launched hosting features that required manual deployment steps. This update automates the entire process, letting developers move from prompt to live URL without leaving the editor.
Private Beta Features
Bolt Cloud, the company's upcoming managed infrastructure layer, will add:
Database and backend: Unlimited Supabase databases provisioned per project, with automatic schema generation based on application requirements.
Authentication: User management and sign-in flows, including OAuth providers and passwordless options.
Payments: Stripe integration for subscription and one-time payment processing.
Functions and storage: Serverless compute and file upload handling, configured through natural language prompts.
Analytics: Usage tracking and user behavior monitoring.
Developers can join the waitlist at bolt.fyi/cloud. The company has not disclosed pricing for cloud features beyond what's included in existing Bolt subscriptions.
Infrastructure as Conversation
The platform's defining characteristic is infrastructure configuration through prompts. Instead of manually setting up database tables, API routes, or authentication flows, developers describe what they're building and Bolt generates the necessary backend architecture.
This extends the vibe coding paradigm beyond frontend code generation. A prompt like "build a SaaS with user accounts and monthly billing" would theoretically provision database tables for users and subscriptions, configure Stripe webhooks, set up authentication middleware, and generate the corresponding UI components.
Bolt competes with tools like Lovable, Replit, and v0 in the AI-powered development space. The addition of integrated infrastructure positions it closer to full-stack platforms like Bubble or Glide, but with a code-first approach rather than visual builders.
The Netlify and Supabase partnerships provide established infrastructure rather than requiring Bolt to build hosting and database services from scratch. Both platforms already serve production applications at scale, reducing the risk for developers deploying Bolt-generated code to real users.
Sign-up for beta access is open now through the company's website. Existing hosting features are available to all Bolt users immediately.
