Airtable Makes Omni Custom Interface Builder Generally Available

Airtable has made Omni, its AI-powered interface builder, generally available across all plan tiers. The tool allows users to create custom interface elements by describing what they need in natural language, with no coding required.

The company announced on LinkedIn that Omni can now build everything from 3D product model viewers to interactive network graphs. The feature does not consume AI credits when generating interfaces, removing a potential cost barrier for teams building multiple custom views.

Available Across All Plans

Unlike many enterprise-focused features, Omni is accessible to users on all Airtable plan levels. This democratization of custom interface creation represents a shift from the platform's previous approach, where advanced functionality often remained gated behind higher-tier subscriptions.

The no-credit model is particularly notable. While Airtable recently announced integrations with Claude and other AI capabilities that do require credits, Omni interface generation operates outside that metering system. Teams can iterate on interface designs without tracking usage or managing budget allocations.

Omni works by interpreting natural language requests. A product team might ask for a 3D model viewer to visualize inventory items, while a data team could request an interactive network graph to map relationship hierarchies. The system generates the interface component, which users can then refine and integrate into their Airtable bases.

Part of Broader AI Push

The Omni release comes as Airtable continues expanding its AI capabilities. The platform recently launched Cobuilder, which generates entire applications from prompts, and added a Claude connector for advanced data analysis workflows.

While Omni focuses on interface creation, it complements these other tools in Airtable's evolution toward AI-assisted app development. Teams can use Cobuilder to scaffold an application, then deploy Omni to create specialized visualization components that standard templates do not support.

The feature addresses a common pain point in no-code development: the gap between what pre-built components offer and what specific use cases require. Rather than forcing users to choose between limited built-in options or hiring developers for custom work, Omni provides a middle path.

Airtable has directed users to its Community forum for additional implementation details and examples. The company has not specified technical limitations on the types of interfaces Omni can generate, though real-world performance will likely depend on the complexity of requests and available data structures within each base.

For teams already using Bubble, Softr, or other tools that connect to Airtable as a backend, Omni may reduce the need to build certain visualizations in external platforms. Complex data views can now be created directly within Airtable's interface layer.
