Framer has upgraded its Basic site plan, quintupling bandwidth limits and doubling CMS collection capacity while keeping the price unchanged. The move comes in direct response to user feedback, addressing two of the most common pain points for customers on the entry-level tier.
The Basic plan now includes 50GB of monthly bandwidth, up from 10GB, and supports 2 CMS collections instead of 1. Both changes take effect immediately for existing Basic plan subscribers at no additional cost.
More Room for Growing Sites
The bandwidth increase gives Basic plan users significantly more headroom for traffic growth. At the previous 10GB limit, sites could face overage charges or performance throttling as visitor numbers climbed. The new 50GB cap accommodates roughly 25,000 to 50,000 monthly pageviews for typical websites, depending on image optimization and asset size.
The second CMS collection addresses a structural limitation that forced many users to choose between different content types. Previously, Basic plan sites could maintain only a single collection, meaning creators had to decide whether to use their CMS for blog posts, case studies, team members, or product listings. With two collections, sites can now combine content types like a blog and portfolio, or team profiles and testimonials.
Framer's CMS has seen substantial development recently. The platform launched CMS 3.0 with inline editing, bulk actions, and folder organization, followed by CMS Plugins that returned plugin functionality with a dedicated sidebar view. The Basic plan upgrade makes these capabilities more accessible to users who don't need the unlimited collections available on higher tiers.
The pricing structure for Framer's site plans remains unchanged. Basic plans start at $5 per month when billed annually, with Mini plans at $15 per month offering unlimited bandwidth and CMS collections. The company also recently added free domain search and registration for yearly subscribers, further sweetening the value proposition for committed users.
Framer competes in the website builder space against platforms like Webflow, Squarespace, and Wix. The Basic plan upgrade positions Framer more competitively at the entry level, where bandwidth and content management limitations often push users toward more expensive tiers or alternative platforms.
The update reflects a broader trend among NoCode platforms to reduce friction for small businesses and solo creators. By expanding capabilities without raising prices, Framer removes common upgrade triggers that force users into higher-cost plans before they're ready. The changes particularly benefit freelancers and agencies managing multiple client sites on Basic plans, who can now handle more traffic and content variety without tier upgrades.
Existing Basic plan subscribers will see the new limits reflected in their account dashboards immediately. No action is required to activate the upgraded bandwidth or additional CMS collection.
