What to expect

Build and pitch an AI, blockchain or government-tech idea inside the UK Parliament at this free, beginner-friendly EasyA hackathon in London.

On Friday 4 September 2026, from 12:30pm to 5:30pm, the House of Commons will host what organisers describe as the first-ever hackathon in the UK Parliament. This five-hour, in-person event in London combines practical building, expert-led learning, live discussion and a project competition, all within one of the country’s most distinctive venues.

What to expect

Participants will explore how technology can address real opportunities across AI, blockchain and government. The programme brings together several formats:

  • Live panels led by prominent UK leaders, with opportunities to ask questions
  • Hands-on workshops designed to help newcomers get started with technology
  • A build competition where participants can develop and present an idea
  • Pitches to MPs and members of the House of Lords
  • Prize money and equity-free funding for the strongest projects
  • Follow-on grants, with hundreds of thousands in potential funding available to winning projects
  • Recruitment and investment connections, with recruiters and venture capital investors expected to attend

The event also offers the chance to meet members of Parliament, Lords, fast-growing UK startups and fellow builders. Whether your priority is testing an idea, learning new skills, finding collaborators, meeting decision-makers or exploring a job or internship, the format is designed to create plenty of opportunities to build and mingle.

Who should attend?

This hackathon is open to all experience levels, from university students and first-time builders to seasoned developers. Programming ability is not required: non-coders can contribute through ideation, marketing and presenting, and the organisers have created a dedicated prize for non-coding participants. Workshops will support people who have never worked with technology before, while experienced developers can focus on building and pitching competitive projects.…
